Before and After: The Dining Room

Ever since we bought our house in August 2020, the dining room has been graced with many rugs, a couple of tables, a few different chairs, a new buffet, and most recently β€” a fresh paint job! Scroll through the pictures below to see the transformation the dining room has undergone!

I'll be sharing before and afters of each room of the house on the blog (see the living room here). Subscribe so you don't miss the other transformations!

September 2020

This was less than a month after we moved in. At the time, Zack was working from home, and the (now) office was under construction, so the dining room became his temporary working space.

August 2021

This is one of my favorite dining room looks. Lots of time passed between the last picture and this picture, and some notable changes include: a new rug, the beginning of my plant collection (obsession?), curtains, a beautiful new dog bed for Charlie, and I rearranged some furniture. Moving the buffet in front of the window was a GREAT choice and made the room feel balanced! Overall, I loved the cohesive color scheme of this room at this point. (p.s. starting from here, watch the growth of Newton the fiddle leaf fig!)

July 2022

Although I loved the previous dining room look, over time, the buffet didn't fit my style anymore, and I felt the rug would look really good in the office. Almost a year later, I got a new rug and it got my wheels turning! Everything from here on out is fast tracked!

September 2022

We were at my husband, Zack's, family cottage and his sister said that she wanted a smaller dresser in her room. I took one look at the dresser in her room and asked if we could have it. We learned that it was Zack's grandma's dresser from her bedroom growing up. This changed the look of the entire room! We also got a "new” table off of Facebook Marketplace, which is much bigger than our old table (plus has more leaves to add) so it makes hosting in our small space easier. And notably, we got a new rug from Rugs USA (affiliate link)!

Early November 2022

The main change between this picture and the last are the new chairs! I wanted something less traditional in style than the chairs we were using from our last table and chairs set. I scored these on Facebook Marketplace! Another difference is the abundance of plants. Most of them lived in our sunroom all summer, but as the weather cooled down here in Michigan, they had to come inside for the winter.

Late November 2022

The biggest and best update of all: FRESH PAINT! Back in January 2022, I tried inverted trim in the living room and intended on doing the dining room the same way shortly after. Now, 11 months later, I finally did it β€” and what a change! I love it!

Which look was your favorite? Again, I'll be sharing transformation of each room in the house, so subscribe to the email list at the top of this blog post or follow on Instagram so you don't miss any updates!
