How to Layer Bedding: Transitional Summer to Fall Bedding

It’s that time of year where the weather is flip flopping between summer and fall, and you’re flip flopping on whether you need more or less blankets.

Recently, some nights here in Michigan have dropped into the 50s, and our summer bedding just isn’t cutting it on those nights. But I can’t completely change to cool weather bedding just yet because some nights are still in the 70s! I need layers!

Here’s my recipe for late summer (or early fall) bedding to keep you comfy:

  1. Breathable luxe sheets from Brooklinen

  2. Add a lightweight waffle knit blanket for the warmer nights

  3. Layer on a quilt for the cooler nights (mine was lovingly homemade from my Grandma, but similar are linked at the bottom of this post!)

  4. Toss on a fun plaid throw blanket to add some texture and pattern

  5. Add pillows to your liking (less is more for me!). My pillows are from Target Studio Mcgee but no longer available.

This transitional season can be hard, but at least our beds can be cozy!
